Music Ministries
Do you sing or play an instrument? We invite you to consider whether God might be calling you to join the St. Jude Music Ministry.
In order to help foster full, active, and conscious participation during the liturgy, St. Jude has several teams of musicians who support congregational singing. Below is a list of opportunities to share your talents with our community.

Joyful Heart
Joyful Heart is an SATB choir that provides music approximately twice per month at the 5:00 pm Saturday Mass. Rehearsals are held every Thursday evening from 7:00-8:30 pm. Accompanied by piano, drums, guitar, bass, and flute, this group leans toward a contemporary music style. Our community is blessed by the spirit-filled music that Joyful Heart prepares for each Mass. They provide a joyful ministry from their hearts, as we are instructed to do in Psalm 66: “Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; sing of his glorious name; give him glorious praise.”
Deo Cantus
Deo Cantus is an SATB choir that provides music approximately twice per month at the 9:00 am Sunday Mass. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:30 pm. The name “Deo Cantus” means “singing for God” or “a song to God.” As Roman Catholic Christians, we are all called to be the voice of God to our communities and to the world, which begins through our active participation in the liturgy. Thus, Deo Cantus is an arm, a hand, and a voice of our community at St. Jude. As the Body of Christ, we invite you to join us in creating beautiful, prayerful, and joyful praise to God through your participation in the songs at Mass.
Men's Choir
The St. Jude Men’s Choir is a group of exuberant men who desire to sing and praise the Lord. This group sings four times per year at the 5:00 pm Saturday Mass. Rehearsals are held on two Wednesday evenings preceding each scheduled Mass (from 7:00-8:30 pm). Check these guys out – you will be moved by their music!
Chenaniah
Chenaniah is a praise band that provides music most Sundays at the 11:00 am Mass. The name Chenaniah comes from the Old Testament and means “established by God.” We read in 1st Chronicles Chapter 15: “Thus David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with joy from the house of Obed-edom….David was vested in a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who carried the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah, the leader of song.…Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with joyful shouting, to the sound of horns, trumpets, and cymbals, and the music of harps and lyres.”
Cantor Team
A skilled group of trained cantors provides music during the Masses when our choirs are not scheduled. Cantors may sing for the 5:00 pm Saturday Mass, 9:00 am Sunday Mass, Holy Days of Obligation, Stations of the Cross, and other special events. Cantors are typically expected to be a member of one of our choirs.
